Back in the old days when I used to smoke too many cigarettes, drink too much coffee and sell quite a few Land Rovers, a Bird-dog was what we used to call it when a third party, normally a pet dealer, would introduce a genuinely interested party to you & who would then be paid a little something for taking the trouble to make the introduction.

I often get asked if I know of a certain animal for sale and this is a simple way for me to make sure the search reaches the widest audience. But I am also aware that any number of us (for a variety of reasons), may have a perfectly sound, genuine animal that is surplus to our requirements, but might be just what someone else is looking for.
