I thought it might be of interest to visitors to have a quick visual reference to some of the current stallions out and about in the shows, so I now have a collection of 45 for the 2007 season.
The photo above is of Drogeda Stormy Tempest, who I really enjoyed photographing at Aberystwyth Show earlier in the year. I think he went better there than the Royal Welsh, it's funny that despite him being a rather flashy chestnut and not my normal type - I do find him very mesmeric - he has obviously got that special something that marks out a champion.
Gwenllan Deio is someone else that demands attention in the ring - he is also fun to photograph & you are unlikely to capture him not at his best, as he looks good all the time that he is in the ring. However if forced to choose, I think I would say that I liked big brother Gwenllan Brynmor better, maybe Brynmor just lacks a little finesse in the ring? But knowing how many huge fans of Gwellan Deio there are, and what a shortage of photos there are of him too, I've stuck a special little gallery at the bottom of this page just for you.
The main gallery below represents the best photos that I have captured of the stallions at the various shows & events that I have attended. One of the events I went to was the Aberaeron Festival, and managed to catch a photo of Blaengwen Brenin (aged 17) and Horeb Euros (aged 22) as well as the popular and busy working lad Gwynfaes Culwch. How many foals have those three sired between them I wonder? Lets hope the two Gwenllans find time to pass on their qualities to plenty of progeny in the future too.
