Saturday 5th May 2007 saw the 49th Annual Glanusk Welsh Stallion Show. There were some excellent turnouts for all the Sections. With ridden classes as well, the show presents a healthy picture of the state of Welsh Pony & Cob popularity.
The Supreme Show Champion went to Gwenllan Deio, an eight year old stallion, who is causing a bit of a stir in the showing world. Having scooped all the awards at Lampeter in April as well, Cob breeders who saw him perform at the show are very excited about the prospects of this star in the making.
Gwenllan Deio was the sire of Cascob Powys Princess which sold for £11,000 as a filly foal at last years Autumn Sales.

Mitcheltroy Welsh Prince won the Stallions born in 2003 or before & was Reserve Champion Section D. Expertly shown, the handler was fitter than most on the field on Saturday & had the uneviable task of the two classes running straight after one another.
H-S Iona's Pride won the Fillies / Geldings born in 2004 before winning Best Filly & Best Youngstock in the Section D classes. She showed better in the morning, than the afternoon, but in all, owners P & A Jones of the Menai Stud must have been pleased with their results of the day as their 3 year old dun colt Menai Calon Lan also won Champion Section C as well as reserve best in show.
