Lampeter Stallion Show 2008
I know some of you have barely stopped, but Lampeter is the first show of the new season to me. Mmm the heady aroma of excited cob mixed with Alvahorse products!

It was so cold it is a wonder the youngstock didn't start resprouting their winter coats, it got gradually colder, and then for good measure, the rain fell, just as the D Stallion Classes started.

There were some very strong classses, with exhibits from all over the UK attending.

The Supreme Show Champion was Bryncarreg Lightning Jack, also pictured above. Maesllwch Calon Lan was the Champion C Youngstock Exhibit, with one of my favourites from last year, Ty'r Eos Fantasy being reserve youngstock.  Dycott Ringmaster was overall youngstock male champion and reserve overall yearling in a very polished performance from the Dycott Stud.

The D class was huge, and very exciting with a well recovered runaway, who went on to do much better in the M&M class later.  Powysvalley Tobago did well to appear top 3 in both D and M&M but it was Menai Calon Lan who was Champion Welsh under saddle, with Bakersfield Emarald Prince Reserve.

Avonvalley Cardiff Arms was Champion Section D Stallion with Powysvalley Mr Harry Reserve.  Regardless of the wet and greasy conditions, the stallions (and their valient handlers) put in some impressive turns round the ring, with strong offerings from each of the four geographical areas.  I wonder if we have seen the R.W In Hand Champion Stallion already, or is he still tucked up in his pyjamas waiting for warmer weather?

I think I've got all the results correct, although my programme did get a bit soggy during the last hour.  Please feel free to email me with any correction.
