I managed to skulk off work to attend the second day of the Winter Fair at Builth Wells on the Tuesday and was pleased to give my new indoor lens a trial at the Foal & Yearling Show that is held there.

There can be no doubting the fertility of Gwynfaes Cullwch, as the tent at times seemed to contain little other than looky likies.  How on earth did Mr Evans direct the steward to pull the animals in order.  "Next I'll have the bay with the four whites...."  No hardship for me as I love a bay & find Gwynfaes Cullwch & his progeny very photogenic.  Anyway I exaggerate, not everything was by him:

Overall D winner was yearling filly Brynithon Electra (Brynithon The Gigalo x Glanfon Gem Rhosyn) with the Reserve going to filly foal Caerderwen Sienna (Gwynfaes Cullwch x Kestos Ceridwen)

The Cs were judged by Mr John Llewellyn-James.  Overall C Champion was the filly foal Ty'r Eos Fantasy (Starcrest Gold Soveign x Ty'r Eos Fureoso) with Reserve going to the yearling colt Pantydwr Pencampwr (Ysselvliedts No Limit x Pantlleinau Meinir)

Almost all the classes were well attended & gave the judges plenty to do.  But why is the show held in that pokey little marquee stuck on the side of horse box hill?  We're not going to attract many passers by over there are we?  And very hot for the animals and handlers, who nearly all had a sweat on. Couldn't we kick some of the machinery out of one of those sheds?  We've got to be more exciting than them haven't we?

Results below, and as usual snap shots for a rough idea of who was who, The Event Photographer was present & I'm sure photos will be on the website before long:  www.theeventphotographer.co.uk

That was exciting and very festive: the decorations were up in Builth, there were gift ideas at the show ground, stalls selling hot nuts & we even had a pantomine complete with audience booing and cheering.  It was a catchy song at the end, you may know it as the Hokey Kokey, it goes something like this....

You let the C Champ in
You pull the C Champ out
In out, in out & shake her all about
You do the hokey kokey and you turn around
Thats what its all about
.... Oooooohhhh Hokey Kokey Kokey.......

Well actually there was no turn around as rules is rules and as the B beat the C in the foal champ, the C couldn't stand forward for the best of A,B,C, D.   Bah humbug!!

The filly was very special & the poor lad who was stuck in the middle of it, handled the situation very well, I would have had a tizzy fit!

I hope you enjoy this last offering of 2007 and I hope my site has given you a few ideas for your own sites & what can be achieved for not very much money.  MERRY CHRISTMAS.
